ITC Holdings Corp. through its subsidiaries, ITCTransmission, METC and ITC Midwest, is in the business of transmitting high-voltage electricity, providing the gateway for energy delivery to the Midwest and for the international markets to our neighbors in Canada.  We are the nation’s first fully independent, for-profit transmission company and began operation in March 2003.  ITC is 100 percent focused on providing safe, reliable energy to our customers.

ITC strives to minimize the environmental, health and safety risks to our employees and the communities in which we operate through safe technologies, facilities and operating procedures, and by being prepared for emergencies. We are committed to making environmental concerns an integral part of our planning and day-to-day decision making processes.

The Company will meet applicable regulatory, legal, and other environmental requirements, and implement, operate, and maintain an Environmental Management System that addresses in a sustainable and responsible way, the potential environmental impacts of our activities.  ITC will develop and implement objectives and targets relevant to our significant environmental aspects.  Through regular compliance reviews, ITC will monitor and assess its compliance and environmental performance.

We will safely, effectively, and responsibly manage properties, materials, emissions, and wastes in ways that are both responsible and environmentally sound through appropriate due diligence.  When feasible we will:

• Purchase and use environmentally preferable materials, products, and  services
• Eliminate or reduce emissions and wastes at the source of generation
• Properly store, handle, and dispose of all wastes
• Pursue opportunities to recycle and reuse waste materials
• Communicate ITC’s sustainability measures and pollution prevention technology, knowledge and methods with business partners and the public, and
• Encourage responsible use of energy

ITC management recognizes the importance of communicating to our workforce the environmental principals that guide us. We will inform our employees, suppliers, contractors, and customers of our environmental policies, practices, and performance.  We will make available environmental education and training opportunities to our employees and contractors and require the use of appropriate safety and emergency equipment.

ITC Holdings Corp. will continually improve environmental management policies, programs, and performance, based on the results of our periodic reviews and taking into account regulatory and technical developments, customer needs, community expectations, and its financial resources.
