Inclusion & Diversity

Why We’re Better Together

Building the power grid of tomorrow takes more than one team, one perspective or one approach. It takes diverse experiences and viewpoints, and new ways of thinking.

A diverse team of employees at ITC

That’s why ITC is committed to diversity in all its forms, and strives to reflect it in our daily work building and maintaining the national grid. We know we’re better together by valuing our differences, being inclusive, engaging as a team, and maximizing our individual strengths.

Our goal is to continually support a work environment that promotes personal and professional growth, while advancing our reputation for fair and ethical operations. And much like modernizing our power grid, this work is never done.

A Top Strategic Priority

ITC has long understood that an inclusive and diverse culture is critical to our company’s long-term success—so critical that inclusion and diversity (I&D) is prioritized as one of our Top Strategic Growth Objectives.

Our teams are committed to implementing initiatives and programs that cultivate inclusion and diversity in our workforce, workplace, supply base, community and energy industry. But what does that mean in practice at ITC?

Inclusion

Inclusion is creating an environment that enables individuals to achieve shared goals. It’s about helping everyone thrive.

Here at ITC, inclusion is part of our DNA. From our hiring processes, which encourage hiring from a wide range of backgrounds, to our core values, inclusion is woven into the fabric of everything we do. We know we’re better together when everyone feels welcomed and valued.

Diversity

Diversity is the unique mix of the population. It’s also recognizing and celebrating our similarities and differences.

Here at ITC, being better together isn’t just a platitude—it’s essential to building the power grid of tomorrow. That’s why we’re committed to measuring and continuously improving our culture of inclusion and diversity through assessments, workshops, coaching and more.

ITC Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

ERGs are employee led, self-directed voluntary groups that offer opportunities to connect internally, provide the inclusion of ideas and solutions and create opportunities for mentoring and career development. ITC proudly supports four ERGs:

  • BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color)
  • LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning)
  • Women
  • Men

Supplier Diversity Program

ITC’s commitment to diversity extends to our business practices. ITC’s Supplier Diversity Program represents our commitment to an inclusive supplier base through the recruitment and growth of diverse businesses.

ITC recognizes the value in leveraging our Supplier Diversity Program to build partnerships while also identifying growth opportunities for all vendors. A diverse supplier base enables the company to meet the needs of our customers and the communities we service in an innovative and efficient manner.

ITC Ambassador Program

To better communicate our mission and vision, we have established an Ambassador Program to champion ITC and enhance our engagement within the communities we serve. ITC Ambassadors serve as representatives for the company at local and regional celebrations and milestones, and help show the community how diverse ITC really is.

ITC is in the middle of a transformative time in the energy industry, and we cannot be successful without employees. Embracing a diverse employee base and being inclusive of new ideas and perspectives will be crucial as we continue to drive innovation in the electric transmission industry.
