ITC Statement on American Jobs Plan
April 15, 2021 | ITC Holdings
President Biden’s plan to reenergize the power infrastructure in the American Jobs Plan is a positive step forward in establishing greater electric system reliability, efficiency and resiliency. The ability to move cheaper, cleaner electricity across the country and achieve carbon reduction goals all depends on a strategically planned transmission system. We support the President’s plan to promote the buildout of high-voltage capacity power lines, establish a new Grid Deployment Authority at the Department of Energy, spur power industry and electric vehicle jobs, in an effort to update the grid and deliver tangible benefits to electric consumers across the U.S.
As the nation’s largest independent electricity transmission company, ITC Holdings Corp. is committed to providing transmission grid solutions that improve reliability, expand access to markets and allow new generating resources to interconnect to its systems, all while working to lower the overall costs of delivered energy. A whole-of-government approach is required to promote the transmission investment needed to modernize our power infrastructure. We need bold action at federal agencies to address long standing issues that hinder grid development, as well as coordination with state and regional grid authorities to promote the necessary build-out. The Biden infrastructure plan is a crucial step forward in this process.
