March 7, 2023 | ITC Great Plains, Press Releases
WICHITA, Kan. (February 23, 2023) – ITCGreat Plains is supporting human services through a $10,000 grant awarded to LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Program through the Greater Wichita YMCA.
The LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program offers adults affected by cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on healing the whole person. Participants meet twice a week over a 12-week period to practice physical muscle-building and stability exercises. Each session concludes with a group conversation, discussing the challenges and obstacles participants are facing.
“This program provides participants a space to address what they are experiencing in order to elevate their emotional well-being while learning how to improve their functional abilities that have been affected by cancer.,” said Branch Director Jason Pedigo. “Each group is different, but they all build a bond over their 12-week journey.”
Through its grant programs, ITC Great Plains supports organizations that make a strong, positive social impact and improve the quality of life in the communities served by the company.
“ITC Great Plains’ commitment to the communities we serve extends beyond reliable, electric transmission,” said ITC Great Plains President Brett Leopold. “We’re pleased to support the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program, which encourages a spirit of community for those affected by cancer, and an opportunity to build companionship, share stories and inspiration.”
The LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program is available to any person at any stage of the cancer journey. For more information, visit ymcawichita.org/LIVESTRONG.
