ITC Midwest Contributes $5,000 to Support Foundation of Cornerstone Communities Community Development Task Force

GUTTENBERG, Iowa (Feb. 12, 2025) — ITC Midwest has contributed $5,000 through a Power of Connection grant to support the newly created FCC Community Development Task Force in Guttenberg. This grant will aid in resource development and strategic project identification, which is essential for the community’s growth.

The Foundation of Cornerstone Communities (FCC) is committed to the health and vitality of the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Clinics (GMHC) service region. To attract and retain top-tier medical professionals, the FCC is developing a dedicated FCC Development Task Force. This task force will bring together local organizations and community members to support strategic projects benefiting the entire region.

“This grant will help the FCC Development Task Force lead the charge in revitalizing Guttenberg,” said FCC Executive Director Michele Von Handorf. “Our efforts aim to ensure a vibrant community for residents, businesses and medical professionals alike.”

With guidance from the FCC Board of Directors, the task force will focus on resource development, strategic project identification and financial support. Each year, the FCC Development Task Force will adopt a key community vitality project, ensuring consistent contributions to Guttenberg’s future.

“This project represents a wonderful opportunity to enrich the lives of Guttenberg residents,” said ITC Midwest President Dusky Terry. “By contributing to these initial planning efforts, we’re not just supporting immediate community needs but also investing in the long-term vitality and sustainability of the region. Our collaboration with the FCC Development Task Force underscores our commitment to the communities we serve throughout our service territory.”

About the Power of Connection Program
The Power of Connection community grant program is an initiative of ITC Midwest and the Iowa Rural Development Council (IRDC). This innovative economic development program is designed to pair rural communities seeking assistance with IRDC resource teams. Those teams drive both community conversations and solution development for problems or projects.

Communities eligible for the Power of Connection program must have populations of under 10,000 and be outside of a metropolitan area. Power of Connection grant dollars cannot be used for construction, real estate or equipment.
